A recent accident that occurred in Florence County, South Carolina, resulted in a fatality. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. The crash apparently involved a head-on collision between two trucks.
According to police, the truck accident happened about four miles north of Highway 378 in Florence County. According to a spokesperson from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Dodge pickup truck traveling north on Old River Road rounded a curve, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Penske box truck.
The 59-year-old pickup truck driver, a resident of Andrews, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The Penske box truck driver was taken to a local hospital. According to police, both truck drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
According to a statement issued by a local resident who resides on Old River Road, accidents on that stretch of road happen often. The resident who had been living on the street since 2005 said she has witnessed about 15 accidents in the past seven years.
